Wood Floor Sanding Cheshire
Grand Parkett have recently completed a wood floor sanding and sealing project in Goostrey, Cheshire. Goostrey is a village between Holmes Chapel and Knutsford.
A large family home with mixed wood floors, we had oak, pine and walnut to sand and finish. The floors were previously finished with a typical varnish type coating. This had worn through in places and was in need of some tlc.
Our recommendation was to finish the floors with an oil finish. With a family, cats and a large dog, the floors would be easier to maintain. The client also wanted the floors a darker colour than the natural colour they was. After putting many sample colours on the sanded floor, we came up with the chosen colour. Floor Service 2K Oil, the colour is Koro.
Floor Service 2K Oil consists of 2 components, a tin of oil, and a smaller tin of hardener that are mixed together. Floor Service oils are classed as “penetrating oils” whereby the oil penetrates within the wood and hardens. Nothing is left on the surface, all excess oils are taken off before the oil hardens. What you are left with is a beautiful finish that highlights all the natural grain. These type of finishes are what we recommend on pubs, bars and restaurants, so they are very durable.
Maintaining an oiled floor is a simple enough process to keep your oiled floor looking refreshed. Especially easy with the Floorboy Buffer, just spray maintenance oil on the floor and use this superb little buffer to work it into the floor.

Goostrey is a delightful Cheshire town, and the Trading Post Store kept me going with breakfast and lunch. A great little shop with proper homemade food. I’ll surely be calling in when I’m in the area.
